a river, a writer, one heck of a photographer and someone who makes letters.

One-minute interactions can and DO result in meaningful connections. While no, I haven't experienced my fairytale love story of being called out in the 'Missed Encounters' section of the Georgia Straight, what I HAVE experienced is of similar epic-ranking proportions.

I met Charlotte Austin at a BBQ in Squamish back in the summer. Shortly after a brief intro, my sweet friend Liz slyly mentioned that she's a badass writer - you HAVE to talk to her. Quickly I plotted my strategy of how I was going to ask her about her craft - and it involved not asking her anything - all night. Haha. Turns out I have a huge aversion to hitting 'fan girl' status on first introduction.

But, since a momentary chat at the end of the night and a chain of emails that I am simply SO fortunate to have in my inbox, I can confidently state that I am 100% Charlotte's #1 fan and happily will adorn myself with fan girl status.

What's #thebest about Charlotte is her unwavering willingness to support other creatives and unconventional-life-enthusiasts via collaborations. Among other team efforts under her belt, her most recent involves bringing a world class photographer along on a world class paddling adventure, and then asking her newfound and mainly-internet-friend to craft up some quotes. THIS is the result of such a gathering of minds:

The backstory: In October 2014, Charlotte led a 7 day expedition with a team of 5 people up the Columbia River Water Trail (CRWT) that was captured by the uber talented Bryan Aulick. Upon looking back at the photos from the trip, they realized that what they experienced and captured was worth sharing - and sharing with words that had meaning to them.

The cards were conceptualized, quoted, lettered, and sent to print within about 7 days - which proves that strong vision and dedicated contributors can make big things happen on tight deadlines. They're on sale for $10.00 for a set of 6 cards, and shipping is available for $2.50 (cross-border shipping costs TBC). If you're keen to get your hot little hands on some of these cool cards, send Charlotte an email and she'll hook you up (with a smile and a sweet email in return, I am MORE than sure).

Follow more of Charlotte's adventures and expeditions here, and check out more of Bryan's amazing photography on his site. When I get connected with creatives whose work makes me say 'sweet HECK - yeowza!' I can't help but share.

Thanks for the chance to collaborate with you sweet folks - looking forward to the next chance to bring your experiences to life through letters.
